Privacy Policy
Written in plain language, about what actually happens to your data — including the AI parts.
The short version
We store the goals and logs you create so the app can show them back to you and generate your coaching.
AI coaching features send your recent logs to Amazon Bedrock (AWS's AI service) to generate a nudge, summary, or insight — nothing more than what's needed for that specific feature.
Your data is not used to train AI models, and we don't sell personal data to advertisers.
You're in control — you can export your data, or permanently delete your whole account and everything in it, at any time right from the app.
What data we collect
UpLift Me collects a few different categories of information, each for a specific reason:
Account information
When you create an account, we collect what's needed to identify you and keep your data secure — your sign-in method and an account identifier. You can sign in with your Apple ID (Sign in with Apple), your Google account (Sign in with Google), or an email address and password. Authentication is handled through AWS Cognito, a managed identity service; if you set a password, it is stored securely by Cognito and never by us in plain text.
Goals, fields, and daily logs
Everything you enter to track a goal — the goal itself, the fields you're tracking, and every daily log entry — is stored so the app can display your history and generate coaching. This is the core content the app exists to hold, described in more detail below.
AI interaction data
When an AI feature runs — a daily nudge, a plan chat message, a note you ask the app to tidy up — the relevant data (your recent logs, your message text) is sent to generate that specific response. See How AI features process your data for the full explanation.
Device and technical data
Basic technical information is collected where a feature genuinely requires it — for example, a device push notification token used to deliver reminders and Live Activity updates. We also collect standard app-usage analytics and crash diagnostics through Google Firebase (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics): app-open and feature-interaction events, a device-level identifier, and crash and performance logs. This helps us fix bugs and see which features are useful. It never includes your goals, logs, notes, photos, or health data, and is never used for advertising. See Analytics & app usage for details.
Photos
If you attach a photo to a moment or entry, that image is uploaded to our secure storage (AWS S3) and linked to your account so it appears in your own history. Photos are never made public or shared with other users. If you don't add a photo, none is collected.
Apple Health data
If you connect Apple Health, UpLift Me reads the metrics you allow (such as steps, workouts, or mindful minutes) to auto-fill your goal logs. Only the daily totals you log are saved to your account — your raw Health records stay on your device. This is described in full under Apple Health data below.
Voice input
When you use your voice to write a log or note, your speech is transcribed to text using Apple's Speech Recognition. UpLift Me does not record or store the audio itself — only the resulting text is saved, and only if you choose to keep the entry.
How we use your information
Everything described above is used for a small, specific set of purposes:
- Running the app itself — showing you your own goals, logs, and history.
- Generating your AI coaching — nudges, summaries, and insights, described in detail below.
- Keeping the service working — basic technical monitoring to catch errors and outages.
- Communicating with you — account-related messages and, if you opt in, product updates.
We do not use your goals, logs, or personal notes for advertising, and we do not sell personal data to third parties.
Your goals & logs
Your goals, tracked fields, and daily log entries are stored in our database (Amazon DynamoDB, hosted in AWS's Asia Pacific — Mumbai region) and linked to your account. This data exists for two purposes only: showing your own history back to you inside the app, and generating the coaching features you use.
This data is not shared with other users, is not made public, and is not sold. If you use widgets or Live Activity, a snapshot of relevant goal data is shared between the main app and the widget using Apple's App Group mechanism — this is an on-device handoff and does not involve that data leaving your device through any additional channel.
Apple Health data
Connecting Apple Health is entirely optional. If you choose to, UpLift Me asks your permission to read only the specific metrics you approve — for example steps, workouts, active energy, sleep, or mindful minutes — and uses them to automatically fill in the goals you're already tracking, so you don't have to enter them by hand.
Your raw Apple Health records stay on your device. When a Health metric is used to complete a daily log, only that day's total (a single number, such as "8,200 steps") is saved to your account so your history and coaching stay accurate. UpLift Me does not write data back to Apple Health without your action, and it never uses Health data for advertising, shares it with advertisers or data brokers, or uses it to train AI models. You can revoke Health access at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Health.
How AI features process your data
UpLift Me's coaching features work in two different ways, depending on the feature:
Precomputed features
Features like your daily nudge and weekly summary are generated once, typically overnight, by sending your recent logs to our AI service and storing the result. When you open the app, you're reading that already-generated result — no new AI processing happens at that moment.
Real-time features
Features like plan chat and note tidy-up process your input the moment you use them, since they respond directly to something you just typed or said.
What data is actually sent
In both cases, only the data relevant to that specific feature is sent — for example, a daily nudge sends your recent log history for that one goal, not your entire account. The system that generates this coaching is specifically instructed not to invent facts or numbers that aren't in your actual data — if it doesn't know something about your week, it isn't supposed to guess.
Does our AI provider see your data?
UpLift Me's AI features run on Amazon Bedrock, AWS's managed AI service, which hosts language models from providers including Anthropic and Amazon. When an AI feature runs, your relevant data is sent to Bedrock to generate that specific response, then returned to our systems — it isn't sent anywhere else.
According to Amazon's published policy for Bedrock, your inputs and the model's outputs are not used to train Bedrock's underlying foundation models, and are not shared with the model providers for their own purposes.
Is your data used to train AI models?
No. UpLift Me does not use your goals, logs, or messages to train any AI model — ours or anyone else's. Your data is used only to generate your own coaching, in the moment, as described above.
Third-party services
UpLift Me is built on a small number of infrastructure providers, used to run the app rather than to monetize your data:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosts our servers, database, file storage, and the AI features (via Amazon Bedrock), and handles sign-in (via AWS Cognito).
- Google Firebase — provides app analytics (Firebase Analytics) and crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics). It receives anonymous usage events, a device identifier, and crash and performance diagnostics so we can fix bugs and improve the app. It never receives your goals, logs, notes, photos, or health data, and is never used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Apple & Google (sign-in) — if you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, that provider verifies your identity and shares a basic identifier (and, where you allow it, your email) so we can create and secure your account.
- Apple — processes all subscription billing through the App Store. UpLift Me never sees or stores your payment details directly.
How we protect your data
Data protection isn't a single feature — it's a handful of specific practices:
- Encryption in transit. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS.
- Encryption at rest. Your data is stored in managed AWS services (DynamoDB and S3) that encrypt data at rest by default.
- Authentication. Sign-in is handled through AWS Cognito rather than a custom-built system, which reduces the surface area for authentication bugs.
- Least-privilege access. Our backend infrastructure is deliberately configured so that each part of the system can only access exactly what it needs — for example, our deployment process uses a restricted permissions boundary specifically to prevent broader access than necessary, rather than one broad set of permissions shared everywhere.
- Isolated AI requests. Each AI feature sends only the specific data that feature needs, not a general dump of your account.
Cookies & tracking
Our website uses a small number of cookies to keep the site working correctly. The full breakdown of what we use and why lives on a dedicated page rather than being repeated here — see the Cookie Policy for the complete list.
Analytics & app usage
We use a few kinds of monitoring, all aimed at keeping the app reliable rather than profiling you for ads:
- Firebase Analytics — records anonymous, aggregate usage events (such as which screens and features are opened) so we can understand what's useful and where people get stuck. It's tied to a device-level identifier, not to your health data or the contents of your goals and logs.
- Firebase Crashlytics — captures crash reports and performance diagnostics so we can find and fix bugs quickly.
- Backend monitoring — infrastructure-level checks on our own servers, for example whether an AI feature is failing or responding slowly.
None of this is used for advertising or to track you across other apps and websites, and we do not sell it. UpLift Me does not use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not display ads.
Data retention & deletion
Your goals and logs are retained for as long as your account is active, so your history stays available to you.
You can permanently delete your entire account at any time from inside the app — open Settings → Delete Account. Deleting your account removes your profile and your personal content (goals, logs, notes, photos, and any stored Apple Health totals) from our systems. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Your rights & choices
You have direct control over most of your data inside the app itself:
- You can edit or delete individual goals and log entries at any time.
- You can permanently delete your entire account and all associated data from Settings → Delete Account inside the app.
- You can revoke Apple Health access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
- You can turn off non-essential notifications in your device settings.
- You can choose which fields to track for each goal — nothing is tracked that you didn't set up.
- You can export your data at any time — JSON on every plan, plus PDF reports on Boost and Soar, plus CSV on Soar. See the Pricing page for the full breakdown by plan.
International users
UpLift Me's servers are hosted on AWS infrastructure in the Asia Pacific (Mumbai) region in India. If you use the app from another country, your data will be processed and stored in India, which may be a different country than the one you live in.
If you're in a region with specific data-protection laws — such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or similar — you have rights over your personal data, including the right to access, correct, delete, and export it, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app (see Your rights & choices), or by emailing us at info@theuplift.me.
Children's privacy
UpLift Me is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
